I made these this past weekend...epoxy resin heads with glitter, google eyes bored into the head, 275lb cable leader and skirts from Atlantic game and Tackle. For molds I've been using empty vitamin bottles, Dasani bottles, travel shampoo bottles...anything that looks concentric. Experimenting with different length hook placement. These are 13" long. Adding some ballyhoo pins and placing them mid skirt so the tails will stick out the back. We'll see if they spin or not...Once you figure out your mistakes you can make your own rig pretty darn cheap versus a balck bart for $80-$90. there is also a guy on ebay bhlures who sells marlin rigs not rigged for $17 to your door. I have a few and they are NICE. Besides stocking the fridge with Mahi, this year I'll be hunting some Marlin. Made some dredges/teasers too...

I especially like the one you made from a soda bottle.
I'd love to hear how well it works.

well I was going to pick up the boat in Connecticut this past weekend...had four days off...but a little thing called a blizzard dumped 18 inches of snow betweeh Philly and New York...so four days with time on my hands...since I'm no longer addicted to boat porn, I've taken up a new hobby.....

Nice looking baits.I think you are on the right track.Marlin go after the size and action of a lure more so than the color imho.I look around in the bargain bins at our local tackle shops and Walmart to find large lures cheap. You'd be surprised what you find.I normaly don't pay more than $20 for one.Haddrel's MP has some as I type this.I also found a nice marlin lure at BPS Macon GA this past wknd for $12.(How can Macon,Savannah,MB,etc. have a BPS and we don't?).We will typically deploy large lures and troll towards home when we are out in the deep and have loaded the box with dolphin/wahoo early in the day.Picked up a ~300# blue doing this 2yrs ago.It only took an hour to get hooked up.Excellent post!
